on supporting clinical trials of promising companies with the aim of “treatment this year,
vaccines by next year” and “get at least one result.”

Health and Welfare Minister, Park Neung-hoo, and Science and ICT Minister, Choi
Ki-young, discuss the status of vaccine developments

First of all, the government will urgently establish a foundation for clinical trials in
hospitals. Guidelines will be prepared so that the clinical trial review committee (IRB) in
hospitals can proceed with the examination quickly, and the introduction of the Central
Clinical Test Review Committee (an amendment to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act) will
also be promoted so that the state-designated screening committee can conduct the
examination in many hospitals. It will also strengthen the provision of information to
citizens who wish to participate in clinical trials. The company plans on opening a website
dedicated to COVID-19 clinical trials to guide patients who are hospitalized to local
medical centers or life treatment centers. For promising companies that are nearing the

end of clinical trials, the ministry will provide intensive support through the TF for Clinical
Test Support and the Food and Drug Administration's licensing review team.
