further educate talented students. Only a few schools have implemented a course like this,
but other schools are currently considering implementing a similar course. This course is
helpful for students’ careers, and it is also very necessary for the development of national
industries.
Myeongshin Girls' High School shines out among schools that have implemented an
intellectual property course as it is being well-received because of the cooperation among
students and teachers. The unique thing about Myeongshin Girls' High School is that the
school wants the students to integrate seven curriculums and the six curriculum
teachers (science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, social science, information,
and intellectual property) in this one course. It is a class that is more
practical, innovative, and integrated than other previously conducted
subjects, so students feel more interested in their future careers.
Intellectual property is based on ideas, so students often give up
in the process of making their ideas come true. Whenever this
happens, a mentor helps the students to overcome whatever
difficulty they are facing. The students learn hands-on skills
by seeing their ideas become real inventions, outlying the
specifications for those inventions, and then altering those
specifications after hearing a mentor’s feedback, which can
be a great opportunity for students who have a dream to be
patent attorney.
The Intellectual Property Global Leader Camp (IP), which
was conducted on December 4th,2020, divided students
into three field: IP R&D (research & develop), company
start-up, and app programming. They then presented their
ideas to experts and received feedback about their ideas.
The presentation and collaboration with teachers’ research
at the Intellectual Property Global Leader Camp and the
implementation of intellectual property into the school’s curriculum
was praised by specialists in the field, such as professors, lawyers,
and patent attorneys, who saw students’ creativity and problem-solving
skills being demonstrated. They expressed their joy that, even with such a
difficult smart city theme for the event, the students performed well and came
up with creative inventions.
