Q. What is the UNESCO Charity Bazaar? Could you explain it please?
A. The UNESCO bazaar is a global education charity program aimed at donating
money for education by collecting goods that people don’t need any more and
selling them to others.
Q. This year, the bazaar was held on internet. How did you manage to
collect and sell the goods online?
A. We collected the goods from students and teachers for two weeks and stored
them in the Sin-eui building on first floor. When a buyer left a message in the
chat room about wanting to buy something, we prepared the desired goods
quickly and delivered it to them.
Q. The bargaining at the bazaar is the most entertaining aspect of the
market. Due to COVID-19, I think there might be some logistical problems
with bargaining. Can you bargain online too?
A. Unfortunately, no. Buyers couldn’t bargain on online. Instead, the club
members decided on a price that the buyer would consider was cheap and
reasonable.
Q. What was the most difficult thing about running an online bazaar?
A. I had trouble communicating with my fellow club members. We could only chat
online when we needed to discuss about something about the bazaar. We
had some problems advertising the bazaar as well, so we couldn’t collect as
many goods as we usually do. Also, we didn’t know when a buyer would be
interested in buying something, so we had to pay attention to the chatroom all
day.
Q. Please tell me what your feelings are like after finished the bazaar.
A. At first, I just felt like I was running the bazaar because I am the leader of club.
But now I’ve come to realize that it’s so worth running because an item that
one person doesn’t need anymore can be needed by another person. I am so
touched and thankful to our school’s students and teachers for participating in
this bazaar.
