What is Media Literacy?

We get the news through the media and use it to share our daily lives and

communicate with others. This is because this is a digital media era where
anyone can create and consume media. However, accepting and producing
media in an uncritical manner without distinguishing between real and fake
during the flood of information can cause much confusion in society. Therefore,
in the digital media era, we need to know how to make good use of the media
through media literacy.

First of all, you need to know the meaning of literacy. It is simply the ability
to read and write. In the past, when information and knowledge was accepted
through writing, literacy was very meaningful because knowledge was shared
mainly on paper through books and newspapers. It is still important to read and
understand books and texts, but in modern times, the means of information
acquisition have changed to digital media because such writing has become
more common. Living in the current digital media era, we need to have new

capabilities beyond just literacy. This ability is known as “media literacy.”
