gu, Seoul has seen an increase in confirmed cases among students to 16 since the
first confirmed case occurred on April 29th. In Bundang Middle School in Seongnam,
Gyeonggi Province, the number of patients increased by nine, bringing the cumulative
number of confirmed cases to 34. Mass infections in hospitals and nursing homes have
continued. A total of ten people were confirmed at a nursing home for the elderly in
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, and 15 people also tested positive in hospitals in Songpa-gu.

Amid growing concerns over a surge in the number of COVID-19 confirmed patients
after Halloween Day, the government has decided to strengthen the mandatory wearing
of masks. In the first stage of social distancing, it will be required to wear masks at 23
types of major and general management facilities. Masks must be worn in all indoor
facilities starting from the second stage. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has
decided to crack down on the wearing of masks from midnight on the 13th, when the
guidance period ends, one month after the mandatory mask-wearing rule was signed.
