"#WithYou" on the front door. On November 18th, the rallies continued, this time at the square in front of
a Daegu department store in Dongseong-ro, Daegu. Female students dressed in black clothes and masks
and were joined by many male students, parents, and teachers who supported them. They demanded a
nationwide investigation into sexual violence, stricter regulations and punishments, and revisions to the
Private School Law and the Student Rights Act.

The School Me Too message began on

                                                         campuses with hand-written posters and

then spread quickly to social networking sites.

Problems with teachers were constantly being

uploaded and reported on social media sites

such as Facebook and Twitter. This anonymous

revelation gradually spread to slander in some

cases. In addition, the damage to innocent

teachers continued to be a problem with the

School Me Too movement. Most of the School

heard about other people's suffering or mere

rumors, not their own experiences. Instead of

naming someone who had suffered damage, the stories were mainly naming the teacher who had allegedly

done the crime.

Weak punishments for teachers who actually did crimes is also a problem. According to a survey by the

civic group Political Mothers, as of June 11th, 2019, a total of 93 schools have had some experience with

the School Me Too movement. The number is constantly increasing as more schools are being reported

on social networking sites. After being reported, some teachers have been reinstated5) in their schools

without the exact facts being properly delivered to students and parents. Announcing the case details

could be a good thing for students, parents, and related teachers, but schools and education offices are

extremely reluctant to disclose the exact facts, saying, “These are issues of privacy and the personnel

affairs of teachers.” For the students, parents, and related teachers, it is necessary to objectively

communicate the correct facts. In order to prevent sexual harrassment, education for teachers in related

fields should also be carried out.
