Let's Go to Jeju Island!

Handam Coastal Walkway and Kwakji Beach
When I arrived at Jeju Island on the first day, the weather
was cloudy with strong gusts of wind. We went directly to
Aewol Handam Park1) and Kwakji Beach first because of the
weather. The Handam Coastal Trail is also called Gwakgeum
Ollegil and is a walkway that goes along the coast of Aewol
Port down to Gwakji Waterfront. The total length is 1.2
kilometers and can be walked comfortable while listening to
the waves splashing all along the way. When we went there, there were rape flower2) fields in bloom right
next to Kwakji Beach. Kwakji Beach was difficult to approach due to the wind and rough waves, but it was
beautiful because the sea was crystal clear.

Arboretum Theme Park
Arboretum Theme Park3) is a theme park located in Halla Arboretum. It is an indoor space where one
can tour an ice museum and see 3D optical illusion art at the same time. In addition, there were many
opportunities to take part in various activities such as an ice sculpture experience, chocolate making, and
a VR experience space. The ice museum was so chilly that I felt cold right at the entrance. Everything was
made of ice; there were ice slides, igloos, and even various iced teas. Especially, the ice slide, an ice tube
that people could slide through, was very popular with the students. The 3D optical illusion art in the
Arboretum Theme Park made use of AR4) effects when visitors took pictures of the QR codes with their
phones. Thanks to the paintings there, I understood the lively aspects of AR more than I ever had before.
In addition, there were colorful areas and unusual photo zones, and each place was full of students taking
pictures.
