A Visit to Ehwa Womans University

Students who take part in school

clubs recently had the chance to visit

universities. MS DREAM visited Ehwa

university. Although I already knew that

Ewha was a renowned university and

that its campus was so beautiful, it was

my first time to visit. We searched so

hard for our starting point because there

were so many buildings and the campus

was so big, but we eventually found the

ECC, Ewha's combined campus group1) which informed us of Ehwa’s school structure, composition2), and

layout3). With this knowledge, we could explore the campus much easier. We then visited the souvenir

store and saw various souvenirs that expressed life at Ewha.

After a few hours of exploration, we each visited the department we wanted to attend. Members

visited the departments of mathematical education4), English education5), science education6), and the

department of nursing Science7). I visited the department of English education because I have hoped to

go to there in the future. I asked some questions I had wondered about for a while. First, I inquired about

the activities at the department of English education. An office manager of the department said Ehwa

has a theater club, which is effective for speech improvement. There, we could get helpful tips from its

members. I also inquired about what students were suitable for the department of English education. The

manager said that most professors wanted to see a passion for study and good speaking abilities. Lastly,

I asked what were important skills for educators. The manager told me that the ability to communicate

with students was most important.

I then visited other departments. Even though they were not related to my dreams, when I visited

other friends' dream departments, I was sure that the trips and strategies could help me prepare for my

future career. The students who visited the department of mathematics and education were able to meet

two undergraduate students. I was also able to receive practical advice on the courses, study methods,

and college life that they had actually lived through. It was a time for us to enjoy ourselves.

It was a hard trip because it was a rainy day, but it was a very meaningful university visit thanks to

the professors and students who answered our questions carefully. Universities visits are great activities

where one can find answers to personal questions about universities and departments that can't be

answered through information searching alone. I hope that university visit can help my friends who are

curious about university life.
