Myeong-shin Girls' High School's
Bronze Medal

The Incheon Metropolitan City Election Management Committee1) held the 8th Annual Incheon High
School Student Debate Competition on the Songdo Campus of Incheon University on July 21st, 2018.
Since their start at the 6th Incheon High School Debate Competition, this was the second time Myeong-
shin Girls' High School has participated in the Incheon High School Students Debate Competition.
The debate competition was hosted and presided over by the Incheon Metropolitan City Election
Management Committee, the Incheon Metropolitan City Election Broadcasting Discussion Committee2),
the Incheon Metropolitan City Education Office3), Incheon National University, Incheon Journalist Club4),
NIB Nam-Inchon Broadcasting, and the Purumi Family Service Corps5) as part of the effort to promote
debate culture and democratic citizenship education to high school students.
The debate competition took place with 102 members on 51 teams consisting of two students from 51
high schools in Incheon.
Eight of the 51 teams advanced to the quarterfinals with a heated debate on the topic of “Should
the mandatory recommendation system6) for female candidates of a political party7) be stronger than
the current system.” After the quarterfinal tournament, the teams advanced to the semi-finals. In
