A Visit to Kkotdongnae

Kkotdongnae, located in Eumseong, North Chungcheong
Province, is a spiritual place for people who have no place to
depend on, who have no power in society, or learn the love for
others.

Kkotdongnae begins with the fateful meeting of priest,
Woong-jin Oh and a old man. One day, Woong-jin Oh saw some
beggars living in the huts under the bridge. He saw the old man
share the food devotedly that he begged from people to give to
beggars. After seeing his dedication, Woong-jin Oh built a small
"house of love" which the old man and beggars could live in. This
is the beginning of Kkotdongnae.

Now, Kkotdongnae is divided into nursing and rehabilitation
centers. The nursing home is composed of five facilities: the
house of John, the house of Love, the house of Anabim, the
house of Abdullah and the house of Hope.

On the first day we visited Kkotdongnae, there was an
event where we listened to a lecture by the nuns in charge
of each school. The lecture was the story of why the Flower
Neighborhood was made and who died there. We also
experienced disabilities that they could not talk about, felt the
