The Influence of Korean Wave
All Over the World

Today, the Korean wave1) is trending in foreign nations. People around the world are getting interested
in Kpop, Korean food and the Korean language. Even K-con2) conventions are being hosted all over the
world. Many say that the Korean wave has been growing since the 1990s. As K-drama, Kpop, and Korean
movies began trending around Asia, Korean online games and Korean reality shows also became popular
among foreign people. As time went on, the Korean wave spread from Asia to Western countries.

Recently, as BTS has gained tremendous popularity, Kpop is also spreading. Then, why do some
foreign people like Kpop? Apparently, they think the trendy fashion, catchy music, and perfect group
choreography are new and fresh. BTS members have appeared on popular talk shows like The Ellen Show
and Jimmy Kimmel Live. They also made a speech about youth and non-violence at the UN and raised
money for charity.

Due to the Korean wave and BTS’s popularity, people around the world are getting interested in Korean
culture. International event are being held where people can experience aspects of Korean life like Kpop,
K-drama, K-beauty, Korean fashion, and Korean food.
